See Wildlife Up Close Then Walk The Marsh

Study local species indoors, then follow Marine Park's marsh paths for a birdwatching outing.

Start inside, then step outside.

🪶 Learn Before You Loop

Start indoors at this Marine Park nature center, where park rangers guide you through displays of local plants, insects, snakes, shrimp, and fish. Treat the exhibits as a primer. Spend a little time with the snakes and the shrimp first, and you will know which species to watch for once you head outside.

Out on the trails, the walks cover different sections of the salt marsh. A short loop stays close to the building, a handy pick with kids in tow, while longer paths stretch across the east and west sides of the park for a fuller birdwatching outing.

The center keeps a tight weekend schedule, open Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to noon and again from 1 PM to 3 PM, and closed Monday through Friday. Catch the exhibits in one window and walk the marsh around the midday break. Restrooms are on site, and you will find the building at 3301 Avenue U in Brooklyn, an easy family nature day without leaving the borough.
