See a Real T. rex Skull for Free After Dark in Seattle
Every first Thursday the Burke stays open until 8 p.m. with free entry for an unhurried night among Washington's only real dinosaur fossils.
🦴 Under the T. rex Skull
Fossils Uncovered fills the third floor with the only real dinosaur fossils on display in Washington state, anchored by one of the best-preserved T. rex skulls in the world. Collections storage, labs, and research workrooms stay visible behind glass, letting visitors peer into working paleontology spaces along the gallery path.
On the first Thursday of every month, admission is free for everyone from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Evenings are typically the least crowded hours for an unhurried visit. The museum strongly recommends reserving free timed-entry tickets online in advance to reduce wait times. Off the Rez Cafe, the independent counter in the lobby, serves fry bread until 5 p.m. The U District light rail station is a three-minute walk away, and SNAP, EBT, or WIC cardholders receive free admission on regular days as well.
