Rocky Now Stands at the Top of Philadelphia's 72 Steps
Philadelphia moved Rocky to the top of its 72 museum steps and gave the old spot to Joe Frazier. Both are free to visit.
🥊 2026: The Statues Swapped Places
In September 2026 the bronze at the top of the 72 steps became the Rocky everyone photographs. It is bolted to a pedestal about 14 feet back from the top step, beside the shoe prints set into the walkway. The spot it held from 2006 belongs to Smokin' Joe Frazier now, the heavyweight champion who inspired the character. Frazier's statue came from the South Philadelphia sports complex in June 2026 and stands at the foot of the first riser.

🚶 Doing Both in One Walk
Treat the staircase as one short route, with Frazier at the bottom and Rocky at the top and 72 risers between them. Both stand outdoors, both cost nothing, and no museum ticket is involved. Climb in late afternoon, when the sun drops behind the building and the Parkway lines up straight to City Hall from the top step. Midday washes that view out. Rocky Season runs through December 3, 2026, fifty years after the film's national release.
