🎬 What Fills the Rooms

The exhibition includes the early history of the Asian American movement (“In the Beginning”), the evolution of Asian American identity, the depiction of Asians in the media (“The Propaganda Family Tree,” “How to Yellowface,” “#StarringJohnCho”), 1990s Asian American youth culture (“How to AZN”), Asian Americans and music (“The Asian American Playlist”), domestic life (“Asian Home”), and the rise of Asian American creators (“Pioneers of Asian American YouTube”).

📖 From Page to Wall

RISE: A Pop History of Asian America from the Nineties to Now gathered three decades of essays and archival material from Jeff Yang, Phil Yu and Philip Wang. Curated by Yang and designed by Jonathan Lo, the exhibition transforms portions of the book into an immersive multimedia experience. Joanne Kwong, the store’s president, says she cannot think of a better fit for the gallery in what will be its 10th anniversary.
