Parisian Plates and Unhurried Tables From Chef Daniel Rose

A leisurely meal leaves room for conversation and a warm madeleine sendoff.

Leave room for madeleines.

🍽️ French Classics, Slowly

At 138 Lafayette Street, Le Coucou translates Parisian culinary heritage for New York, with Chef Daniel Rose working alongside restaurateur Stephen Starr. The kitchen leans into rich French classics, from a tender, pudding textured foie gras to duck with orange sauce, chops, and creme brulee.

The pace is the point. Tables can stay put for a long conversation without pressure to turn, and meals often end with a gift of warm, freshly baked mini madeleines. Lunch comes as two courses for 81 dollars or three for 125, and A Very Coucou Dinner is 220 dollars, a set format that keeps the evening focused on the table.

Lunch runs from half past eleven AM to half past two PM Saturday through Thursday and until 2 PM on Friday, while dinner runs from 5 PM to 10 PM Sunday through Thursday and the dining room stays open until 11 PM on Friday and Saturday.
