Description

Commissioned for the 2019 Between Us: The Downtown Denver Alleyways Project, artist Marsha Mack’s site-specific installation draws on clotheslines and paper toys to explore femininity and identity. The cutouts portray Mack across life stages, ranging from a white dress with a conical nón lá hat representing youth and purity to a red and gold laced bridal áo dài with a khăn đóng crown and a blue lotus dress for a mature woman. Accompanying objects such as a scooter, a silk fan, and a lotus bouquet expand the display with everyday street-culture elements.
