Navy Pier Turns a Free Autumn Walk Into a Whole Evening
Stretch a lakeside stroll from the Ferris wheel to the pier end, where the skyline opens across the water.
🎡 The Long Walk Out
Navy Pier puts a long free walk over the water in front of you, with carnival rides, shops and restaurants in the first stretch and Lake Michigan opening up at the far end.
Start where the rides are and keep walking. Past the shops the crowd thins and the lake takes over, which is the half of the pier worth the trip.
Entry is free and the pier runs from morning until late. Parking costs more than the visit does, so treat the walk as the plan and the food as the add on. Bring a layer for the wind off the lake.
