Hike historic funicular ruins and rocky trails to panoramic Hudson Valley views and a soaring fire tower summit.
Description

Trails begin on a stone staircase following the course of the historic incline railway ruins, once the world's steepest funicular. Observation platforms lead toward a panoramic vista stretching from the Hudson Highlands to the Catskill Mountains. A mile further, visitors can climb the South Mount Beacon fire tower for views reaching toward Manhattan on clear days. The terrain involves challenging hiking on loose rocks with occasional tricky trail markers.
