Manhattan Bridge Pedestrian Walkway
4.6 (247)attraction
A quieter East River crossing with sweeping skyline and Brooklyn Bridge views, set to the rumble of passing subways.
Description

The south walkway stretches roughly 1.3 miles from Jay and Sands Streets in Brooklyn to Canal Street at the Bowery in Manhattan. Sights along the elevated path take in the DUMBO area, both the Manhattan and Brooklyn waterfronts, and broad sunset horizons, all viewed through high chain-link fences. Rather than a quiet promenade, the route carries a distinctly industrial texture, where passing subway trains bring loud noise and physical vibration right alongside the footpath.
