Mr. Purple's $11 Skyline Happy Hour on the Lower East Side
Weekday happy hour against a winter sunset: select cocktails and wines by the glass at $11, skyline turning from orange to blue.
🌆 The $11 hour, timed to the sky going dark
Fifteen floors up at Hotel Indigo Lower East Side, happy hour runs Monday to Friday, 4 to 7 p.m., and it is a list rather than a blanket discount: seven named cocktails and select wines by the glass at $11, six snacks at $6, everything else on the cocktail list stays at $20 to $23. Weekends have no happy hour at all. Walk-ins are welcome, though terrace seats are not guaranteed; doors open at 4, dress is upscale, and the door host decides entry.
Winter is what makes the timing work. Sunset lands near 4:50 p.m. in early November and near 4:30 p.m. by early December, putting the whole change of light inside that weekday window: orange light over the southwest skyline, the downtown towers going dark, and the Empire State Building lighting up to the north.
