Lake Michigan Sunset Sail Before Navy Pier Lights

A lakefront route for golden hour sailing, fireworks weather, and a low lift pier wander after docking.

Sail first, linger after.

🗺️ Come Sailing, Inc. to Navy Pier

⛵ Start On The Water

Board at Gate B inside Navy Pier Marina and treat the sail as the anchor, not the commute. Come Sailing runs summer trips daily from 9 AM to 9 PM, with winter phone and email hours on weekdays from 10 AM to 5 PM. Pick City Cat for public seats around $75 to $90, or Bernard for a private charter. Keep shoes practical, check the weather note, and let the skyline view do the first round.

🎡 Dock Into Pier Lights

After docking, stay on the same pier and shift from boat deck to open air paths. Navy Pier general entry is free, while rides, parking, cruises, and third party concerts need separate tickets. The public hours run Monday through Thursday 11 AM to 8 PM, Friday and Saturday until 10 PM, and Sunday until 8 PM. Save the wheel for last when lines build. Use the landmark wheel as your pacing point, then catch the lake breeze before heading back.

🌊 Keep The Route Simple

Start with the sail while light is still changing, then keep Navy Pier as the no transfer landing. The coordinates put the stops about 0.03 mile apart, essentially a short walk inside the same lakefront complex. Reserve the boat in advance, watch the weather policy, and bring layers for wind off the water. If rain or waves interrupt the lake, the pier fallback still gives food, stages, and a clean return by rideshare or downtown transit.
