Description

Presented by the Republic of Korea in 1976 to honor Korean War veterans and celebrate the U.S. bicentennial, the monument anchors Angels Gate Park in San Pedro. Its pavilion features traditional Korean architectural motifs, multicolored paint, and hand-carved woodwork, framing vistas across the Los Angeles harbor toward the Long Beach skyline. Outside, the open grounds function as an easygoing public park, where walking paths draw dog walkers, casual basketball games, and visitors lingering for sunset in the stiff coastal breeze.
