Joe's Stone Crab to Go, Eaten at South Pointe in November
Joe's has sold cracked claws out its back door since 1987, and the Take Away now runs as an 80-seat market about five minutes from South Pointe Park. Buy claws by size, carry them south, and eat facing Government Cut while cruise ships ease out of PortMiami, with the park closing at sunset.
📍 One Counter, One Park
🦀 Started at the Back Door in 1987
Joe's Take Away opened in 1987 as a back-door window for picking up cracked claws, and it has grown into an 80-seat market with a full bar, a coffee bar and a private room. It serves daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 11 Washington Avenue. Claws come chilled and already cracked, with mustard sauce, priced by size at medium $49.95, select $64.95, large $79.95, jumbo $139.95. Florida's season runs October 15 to May 1, Joe's lists claws year round, and prices and the day's sizes can change.

🌊 Five Minutes to the Water
South Pointe Park starts at 1 Washington Avenue, roughly five minutes on foot from the counter, and Miami Beach keeps it open every day from sunrise to sunset. The seawall at the southern tip sits farther, about ten more minutes of walking, where Government Cut runs straight out to sea and cruise ships slide past the pier on their way out of PortMiami. Carry the platter to a bench facing the water, eat there, then follow the shoreline south until the ships fill the view.

🧾 The Afternoon, Start to Finish
Order between 11:30 a.m. and the afternoon light, walk the five minutes to the park, and finish the meal and the ship watching before sunset, since Miami Beach lists the park as open sunrise to sunset rather than into the evening. In November sunset runs 5:39 p.m. on the 1st and 5:29 p.m. on the 30th. Park rules shape the packing, alcohol, glass and Styrofoam are prohibited and smoking is banned, so leave the glass bottle at home and check the takeout boxes at the counter.
