Jardins du Château de Versailles

Laid out across sprawling grounds behind the château, the gardens feature iconic baroque landscaping, groves, fountains, and basins designed by André Le Nôtre. From the central window of the Hall of Mirrors, a grand perspective guides the eye from the Water Parterre toward the horizon. This original east-west axis was extended through an enlarged royal alley and the excavation of the Grand Canal. The extensive site includes Marie Antoinette's hamlet, requiring substantial walking to explore the historic statues and ornamental layouts.
