Garden Walks Across 52 Acres of Brooklyn Blooms
Explore bonsai, orchids, and cacti indoors, then time a return for late May roses or the winter Lightscape.
🌿 Conservatories Worth the Walk
Brooklyn Botanic Garden spreads across 52 acres, historically tied to the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences, with a Japanese garden outdoors and climate controlled conservatories where bonsai and orchids share the glass with cacti. The bonsai and orchid collections draw the loudest praise, and the grounds carry the calm of a peaceful urban oasis.
The outdoor landscape changes through the year. Roses bloom in late May, a kid friendly cherry blossom festival fills the calendar, and winter brings an illuminated Lightscape across the grounds. Early mornings hold quiet spots to sit in nature, and the paths end at an on site plant and gift shop.
Hours run 10 AM to 6 PM, enough for a slow loop from the conservatories out to the Japanese garden. The garden asks guests to book tickets online before heading over, and outside food and drink are not allowed, leaving picnic supplies for another day.
