Irving Park
4.6 (1,360)park
Once a racetrack, this 16-acre park blends lighted tennis courts and a splash pad with Portland’s largest nature patch.
Description

Acquired in 1920 on land originally owned by Captain William Irving, the northeast Portland grounds stretch well beyond standard recreation. Between baseball and soccer fields, basketball and volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits, the space makes room for an off-leash dog area and a playground. The sprawling nature patch, developed with the Bureau of Environmental Services, actively works the terrain to capture stormwater and foster wildlife habitat.
