☕ A Ritual From Shannon

The Buena Vista Cafe has held the corner of Hyde and Beach from 1916, with a drink ritual that took shape in 1952. That year, the owner and a travel writer recreated a recipe they encountered at Shannon Airport. Hot coffee and Irish whiskey meet two sugar cubes, then lightly whipped cream floats over the back of a spoon. The bar still sends out swift rows of those topped glasses.

The kitchen brings American staples into the mix, including clam chowder. Indoor and outdoor seating let you take a table inside the vintage room or sit outside, and the cafe also offers alcoholic drinks to go.

Doors open Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 11 PM, Friday from 9 AM to midnight, Saturday from 8 AM to midnight, and Sunday from 8 AM to 11 PM, with the kitchen closing daily at half past nine PM.
