The Buena Vista Cafe
4.6 (8,376)cafe
$20.00 – $30.00
The historic corner cafe that introduced Irish coffee to the US, still poured in swift, cream-topped rows at the bar.
Description

Cornering Hyde and Beach since 1916, the cafe settled on its defining ritual in 1952, when the owner and a travel writer recreated the recipe they encountered at Shannon Airport: hot coffee, Irish whiskey, two sugar cubes, and lightly whipped cream floated over the back of a spoon.
Beyond the counter, the kitchen turns out American staples like clam chowder, with indoor and outdoor seating alongside alcoholic drinks to go. The vintage room draws steady crowds, though visitors occasionally note long lines and varying staff friendliness amid the bustle.
