Description

Completed in 1866 by Calvert Vaux and Jacob Wrey Mould, the arch carries East Drive over a pedestrian path using massive blocks of raw Manhattan schist found on site. In the North Woods, the crossing forms an abrupt boundary in the park landscape, positioned between a swimming pool on one side and tranquil woods with a nearby waterfall along the stream.
