Harvard's 1903 Concrete Bowl Rewards a Slow Walk Around It

Watch a fall game from concrete stands poured in 1903, then loop the concourse on foot before the crowd thins.

Plan your Harvard Stadium visit.

🏟️ Concrete Since 1903

Harvard Stadium opened in 1903 as the first major structure built from reinforced concrete, and the bowl still reads that way from the street, all pale ribs and hard angles above the turf.

Walk in from North Harvard Street and the bowl opens up fast. From the top of the concourse you see the whole field and the low brick of Allston behind it. The curve of the stands is the part to slow down for, and nothing built since looks quite like it.

Entry is free, and the gates keep a weekday schedule outside game days. Bring a jacket for the wind and give yourself twenty minutes to walk the ring before you sit down.
