🥟 The burek counter
Dea-An Authentic Eatery is a family-run Albanian counter on Arthur Avenue, tucked into the Bronx's Belmont Little Italy. The Kolndrekaj family opened it in June 2021 around one specialty, hand-rolled burek coiled into a golden spiral and baked to order. Fillings rotate through meat, cheese, and spinach, each pie generously stuffed and never greasy, paired with house-made yogurt and tangy dhallë. Seating stays simple, with a few indoor tables and sidewalk seats in the warmer months. Regulars order at the counter, then take a warm coil to a table or carry it to go.
