Gladstone Keeps White Walls and Cement Floors on Purpose
A minimalist Chelsea loft with bright white walls and cracked cement floors, free to enter five days a week.
🪜 Walk the room twice
Gladstone runs a minimalist Chelsea space at 515 West 24th Street, loft-like, with bright white walls, cracked cement floors and a design that stays plain so the work carries the room. Entry is free and the doors open at ten from Tuesday to Saturday. Shows rotate through contemporary artists, and the plain hang is exactly why the space reads differently to different people, moderate to some and vast to others. Walk it twice, once for the room and once for the individual pieces. Forty minutes covers a full floor. Check the hours before a Sunday or Monday trip, because the gallery is closed both days, and ask the desk what is changing next.
