Gagosian's Two Chelsea Rooms Shut All Weekend
Gagosian opens its two large rooms at 522 W 21st St Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and shuts for the weekend.
🖼️ Monumental work, five days a week
Two rooms, both big enough for work that would not fit anywhere smaller, including monumental soak-stain canvases and contemporary paintings hung with air around them. The doors close for the whole weekend, so a weekday stop is the only way in, and that keeps the floor calm on a Tuesday morning. A walk-through usually runs fifteen to forty-five minutes. Staff are on hand and will talk about the artists if you ask, and admission is free. Come before lunch, take the C or E to 23rd Street, and walk west.
