Frozen seasonal cocktails and a backyard in Astoria
Creative seasonal drinks land in the backyard, where you can bring a pizza from next door and settle in past midnight.
🍸 Cold drinks, open-air yard
Diamond Dogs opened on a corner of 31st Avenue in 2015, its moody, speakeasy-style front room giving way to a wide backyard that carries the place from spring through autumn. The cocktail list turns over with the seasons, and the frozen drinks are the reason to come, boozy takes on penicillins, paper planes, and mango lassis spun out of a slushie machine. A rotating draft list runs alongside for anyone after something colder and plainer. There is no kitchen, and the move is to grab a pizza from the shop next door and carry it to a backyard picnic table. Bartenders swing from chatty to brisk depending on the night, and the room fills in after work and lingers late. Doors open at 4 PM daily, running to 2 AM most nights and 3 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.
