Three free stops, from Rockefeller Center to Chelsea
Rockefeller Center streams the runways at The Rink
During New York Fashion Week, Rockefeller Center works with the CFDA to show select runway livestreams on a large screen at The Rink, the sunken plaza off Fifth Avenue. This is the version of Fashion Week that does not need a seat assignment. You stand at the rail, watch the collections on a live feed, and leave when you like. The livestreams run September 10 to 15, 2026, at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Admission is free, and no ticket is required.
The Waldorf Astoria shows FIT graduates' evening wear
Inside the Waldorf Astoria, ground-floor corridors turn into a gallery during Fashion Week. A free exhibition of evening wear by recent Fashion Institute of Technology graduates fills the Peacock Alley Corridor and the Lexington Avenue Corridor display windows, so you can read the seams and construction up close instead of from a runway distance. It sits at 301 Park Avenue and runs September 1 to 20, 2026. There is no admission charge, and the display windows stay visible as you walk the corridor.
The Museum at FIT reopens with clothes at doll scale
The Museum at FIT reopens its galleries on September 16, 2026, with Doll Dressing, an exhibition of more than 170 works that put designer garments and accessories on fashion dolls. The small scale changes how you look: proportion, seams, and construction read clearly, with pieces tied to names like Moschino, Marc Jacobs, and Anna Sui. The museum sits at 227 West 27th Street. Doll Dressing runs September 16, 2026, through January 3, 2027, and admission is always free.
