An influential Prairie School masterpiece defined by dramatic cantilevers, stretched bricks, and expansive art glass.
Description

Designed between 1908 and 1910 in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood, this landmark stands as a defining work of Prairie architecture. The structure relies on innovative reinforced concrete beams and long, stretched bricks that trace emphatic horizontal lines. Inside, visitors encounter expansive open-plan spaces framed by continuous bands of art glass windows. While the interior remains largely devoid of furniture due to its occupant history, the rooms showcase detailed craftsmanship, leaded glass, and photography-friendly angles throughout the tour.
