Fort Collins Old Town Square: A Free Dia de los Muertos Afternoon

A free afternoon of mariachi, folklórico dance and community altars fills Old Town Square for Día de los Muertos.

Altars and mariachi fill the plaza.

🌼 Sunday on the Square

💀 Altars at the Center

Alianza NORCO's Día de los Muertos community celebration fills Old Town Square on Sunday, November 1, and everything on the square is free. Community altars stand in the square through the afternoon, and mariachi and folklórico groups perform around them alongside cultural booths, Catrín and Catrina dress-up, food and family activities. The organizers' own flyer and their Visit Fort Collins listing run noon to 4 PM, while the downtown calendar lists 1 to 5 PM. Arriving around noon covers the program on either reading.

🎺 The Ticketed Crawl

The Muertos Crawl is the paid half of the day, a separate ticket that runs 1 to 4 PM through participating Old Town businesses. Crawlers get drink tastings, non-alcoholic options, bites, altars and raffle prizes along the route, and Catrín or Catrina dress is encouraged. Tickets are listed at 35 dollars, 25 for students and 20 for designated drivers. The crawl is a fundraiser, not a bar tour, and proceeds go to Alianza NORCO's immigration legal services and direct aid for local families.

🚗 Sunday Parking, No Rush

Three city garages serve downtown, Old Town on Remington Street, Civic Center at Laporte and Mason, and Firehouse Alley on Chestnut. All three are free on Sundays and City holidays, but a parking session still has to be started at a kiosk or in the ParkMobile app however short the stay, because the garages are gateless. Downtown's two-hour street limits are enforced Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
