Upper West Side Egyptian Shawarma and Koshary
Charred shawarma, koshary and falafel at an intimate Amsterdam Avenue counter.
🥙 From Koshary To Kofta
Zaad brings Egyptian and Mediterranean classics to an intimate counter service spot at 963 Amsterdam Ave. Charred shawarma shares the menu with traditional koshary, giving you a choice between a grilled dish and an Egyptian staple. Start there when you want a meal built around one of the central dishes rather than an assortment of sides, and leave the smaller additions for the next part of your order.
The selection also reaches across falafel, burgers, and mixed grills. Chicken skewers and beef kofta give meat eaters a couple of other directions, while baba ganoush and salads add fresh sides. Choose the main that catches your attention, then let those smaller accompaniments round out your order.
The kitchen also prepares food for larger events, extending its cooking beyond individual meals. For a regular stop, Zaad opens Monday through Sunday from 11 AM to half past ten PM.
