Coney Island Luna Park: Last Day of Fall Season & 1927 Cyclone

Luna Park’s fall season ends November 1, with gates open 11 AM–8 PM. Ride the 1927 wooden Cyclone if it is running that day, then walk the boardwalk as the light turns gold off the water and eat at Ruby’s under the evening lights.

🎃 Halloween Harvest’s Last Day

🎢 1927 Wooden Cyclone

Luna Park’s Fall Season and Halloween Harvest both end on November 1, and the Cyclone is the reason to arrive early. Since 1927 this wooden coaster has dropped riders 85 feet at almost 60 degrees and sent them through 27 separate climbs, dips and curves over 2,640 feet of track at 60 mph. It is the second-steepest wooden coaster in the world, and the timber still flexes and roars beneath a 24-passenger train.

🌅 Boardwalk Sunset at 4:52

Ride through the afternoon, then walk from Surf Avenue to the boardwalk and head west along the Riegelmann Boardwalk. Daylight saving time ends that morning, so sunset comes early at 4:52 PM EST; from about 4:20 to 5:10 PM the light turns gold over the water and Luna Park’s lights come up behind you for its last evening.

🍺 Ruby’s and the Day Pass

After dark, eat at Ruby’s Bar & Grill at 1213 Riegelmann Boardwalk, a Coney Island bar since 1934 open Sundays until 11 PM, weather permitting. The Luna Boardwalk Day Pass covers every ride, the Cyclone included, with one admission each on the Electric Eden Raceway, Sling Shot and the B&B Carousell: online from $76.99, $89.99 at the gate, for guests 48 inches and taller, valid one operating day through November 1. Take the D, F, N or Q to Coney Island–Stillwell Av; rides close for weather or maintenance, so check the park calendar first.
