Cold Spring Half-Day: Main Street, the Riverfront, and a Restaurant Week Lunch
Hudson Valley Restaurant Week lands Nov. 2–16, and the 1832 inn at the foot of Main Street is running both of its prix fixe menus. The day writes itself: shop the street, sit down for three courses, then walk the riverfront until the train home.
📍 Two stops, one sidewalk
🏠 Shops first, then the river
Main Street is a run of independent shopfronts, and the general store at 66 Main Street sets the tone: a landmark 1897 building stocked with home goods, pantry provisions, apparel and books by Hudson Valley makers, six minutes on foot from the platform. Hours run 11am to 5:30pm Monday to Thursday, 10am to 6pm Friday and Sunday, until 6:30pm on Saturday, so shop before lunch rather than after. Walk west from here and the storefronts tighten as the hill drops toward the water.

🍷 Three courses at the 1832 inn
At 2 Main Street the 1832 inn is running Hudson Valley Restaurant Week from Nov. 2 to 16: three courses at $29.95 from the lunch menu, $44.95 from the dinner menu, with a 16-ounce strip steak for $12 more. Beverages, tax and tip are extra. Restaurants pick their own participating days and services, so call 845-265-9355 to confirm yours. Ask for the River Room, where the windows face the water.

🌊 Riverfront walk, one train home
Cross the street and the village gives way to water: a dock reaching out into the Hudson, benches along the shore, the far ridge already rust-coloured. Twenty minutes at the water's edge is enough, then the Hudson Line carries you home. On Tuesday, Nov. 3, the 9:35 from Grand Central lands at 10:56 and the 17:17 back reaches the city at 18:45; weekend departures and returns differ. The prix fixe runs only until Nov. 16.
