Explore a lit underground route or choose a flashlight tour through total darkness in Georgetown.
🔦 Choose Your Light
Inner Space Cavern in Georgetown starts with a steep descent of 50 feet, taking you into roughly a mile of chambers. The system stayed sealed for more than 10,000 years before a highway department core drilling team discovered it in 1963.
The fully lit walking route moves through expansive rooms and stretches with low ceilings. Hidden Passages takes smaller groups into total darkness, with provided flashlights putting the light in your hands.
Prehistoric animal bones share the underground setting with dramatic rock formations. The cavern stays at 72 degrees year round despite the high humidity, and the space does not flood during rains.
Wear walking shoes for the descent. Find the cavern at 4200 South Interstate 35 Frontage Road. Opening hours run Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
