Browse Independent Zines Solo at Center for Book Arts
Take an afternoon alone to buzz up to the third floor, pull hand-assembled zines from across the country, and linger without checking anyone else's clock.
📖 An independent reading table all to yourself
Visiting alone means nobody is tapping their watch while you pull hand-assembled zines from all over the country. The Paper Cuts exhibition gathers 25 years of independent publishing drawn from an archive of more than 600 zines alongside thematic reading tables curated around queer publishing, Black-led platforms, and DIY print networks. You can easily blend in solo, linger over artist-made volumes at your own pace, or join the December 12 closing reception from 6 to 8 PM for a community zine swap and catalog launch.
Head to 28 West 27th Street, press call on the digital directory for Center for Book Arts, and take the elevator up to the third floor. Regular hours run Mon–Thu 11am–6pm and Fri–Sat 11am–5pm (closed Sundays; closed 11/11 for Veterans Day and 11/26 for Thanksgiving). Admission is completely free without reservations through December 12.
