Bring a Whole Cake to Governors Island
Hundreds of fall cakes reach Colonels Row Green, where each ticket holder brings one and tries many.
🍰 One Afternoon on Colonels Row
🎂 How Entry Works
Cake Picnic runs on a trade. Everyone aged three and over needs both a ticket and a qualifying whole cake to get in, and the cakes get cut and shared across the green. Hundreds of cakes land on the lawn and come apart into thousands of slices, which is the entire mechanic of the event. The fall edition leans into a sweet and spooky theme, with an optional dress code to match.
👻 On the Lawn
Ticket holders carry their cake onto Colonels Row Green, hand it to the table crew, and collect a plate. Tables fill in rows across the lawn with slices sorted as they arrive. People work through the spread in small portions rather than full servings, and the decorating gets as much attention as the flavor. Costumes show up alongside the cakes. Groups spread blankets on the grass between rounds.
⛴️ Tickets, Ferry, and Fit
The picnic runs Saturday, October 17, from noon until 3 in the afternoon on Governors Island. General admission has sold out, with CAKE PICNIC CLUB tickets still listed, and all sales are final. Reach the island by ferry and allow time for the crossing and the walk to Colonels Row. Bring the cake whole and ready to travel. Anyone without a cake to contribute will not get through the gate.
