🍷 Regional Plates and Wine

Txikito brings a taste of Basque home cooking to 240 9th Ave in Chelsea. Crispy kroketas start the meal with a crunch, alongside simple snacks that give the menu its regional character. There is fried shrimp served head on with yuzu mayo, plus richer plates of pig with a crisp exterior and tender meat. Ask for sommelier help choosing wines to accompany the dishes.

Eder from Bilbao and Alex of Argentine roots are the husband and wife team behind the restaurant. Alex is the chef and a coowner of this neighborhood fixture, which began serving regional dishes in 2008. Dessert brings Ruso meringue puffs alongside a thick, rich cheesecake.

The seasonal menu keeps its focus on traditional flavors. Txikito opens at 5 PM every day, closing at 10 PM Sunday through Thursday and half past ten PM on Friday and Saturday.
