A Two-Level Riverfront Walk Beneath Ben Franklin Bridge

Stroll along the Delaware River Trail, then settle onto amphitheater seating for a Center City skyline pause.

Take a riverside pause.

🌉 A Shipping Pier Reimagined

Race Street Pier puts a patch of Philadelphia waterfront directly below Ben Franklin Bridge. The former shipping pier dates to 1896, and its layout still nods to that working past. On N Christopher Columbus Blvd, it reaches into the Delaware rather than keeping your walk beside the road.

Head for the upper grand sky promenade, or take the lower terrace with its lawn and garden beds. The two levels meet at amphitheater style seating around the pier end, a place to sit with the river and Center City skyline in view. Pick a perch and let the waterfront set the pace.

Along the Delaware River Trail, the pier makes room for an outdoor workout, a midday breather, or a stroll after dinner. It opens year round, seven days a week from 7 AM to 11 PM. Keep it as a pause on a longer river walk, or make the water your whole outing.
