🎸 What the Score Does

The adaptation runs on a folk-rock score rather than show tunes, and the band sits where a pit orchestra would. Hinton wrote the novel at sixteen and the staging keeps that roughness. The rumble is staged in slow motion under falling water, and it runs several minutes. Fight work carries as much weight as the songs. The book stays close to the Curtis brothers rather than widening the story. Casting leans young across the whole company.

🏛️ The Pantages Room

The Hollywood Pantages opened in 1930 as an Art Deco movie palace and kept its gilded ceiling and sunburst proscenium. Two thousand seven hundred seats fill on touring weeks. The mezzanine overhang means the last orchestra rows lose some of the fly-tower effects. Hollywood Boulevard outside runs on the Walk of Fame. Doors open half an hour ahead of curtain. The lobby bar runs before the show and through the interval, and the queues move fast.

🎟️ Planning the Night

The performance runs Friday, October 9 at eight in the evening at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. Metro B Line stops at Hollywood and Vine, one block east. Garages on Argyle run cheaper than the lots directly on the boulevard. Run time sits around two and a half hours with an interval. Anyone bringing younger readers of the novel should know the fight staging is loud and sustained. Touring weeks here sell the centre orchestra first.
