A Tiny Staten Island Forest Park With Upstate Calm

Walk a tiny Staten Island forest preserve for a quick retreat that feels like upstate New York.

Plan a short woodland walk.

🌲 A Close Look at the Trails

Walk into Ingram Woods and the city gives way to a compact forest preserve on Staten Island. The draw is a quick reset among trees, with trails that feel more upstate than urban. It suits a quiet morning or an after work wander when you want green space without leaving New York.

Start with the entrance plan. The preserve has only two true entrances, including a trail path off Gannon Road, while openings along the sides can lead to dead ends. That makes the first few minutes matter, and the Gannon Road approach is worth locating before you set off. Once inside, the main trails are well kept and easy to follow at a steady pace. The secondary paths need some work, so stay with clearer routes for a simpler walk.

Ingram Woods is open daily from 6 AM to 1 AM, and the address spans SI Expressway, Warwick Ave., Purdy Ave., and Ingram Ave., giving the preserve a broad urban edge rather than one tidy front door. Plan for daylight.
