A Thursday Basement Speakeasy Under a 1955 Upper East Side Italian Classic
An old-school red sauce dining room turns its brick basement into a weekly night of martinis, pasta and live crooner songs.
🍸 Down the Stairs on Thursday
Isle of Capri has held the corner of 61st Street and Third Avenue from 1955 onward, serving red sauce classics in an arch-windowed dining room set with white tablecloths. On Thursday nights the brick-walled basement below becomes Under the Isle, a speakeasy with specialty cocktails, light bites and a pasta trio. A singer in the Sinatra mold works through New York and Italian standards, and the tables start waving napkins after a round of martinis as the night goes on.
The dining room upstairs runs Monday through Saturday from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM and closes Sunday. The basement start time is worth confirming when booking.
