🎪 Beekman Avenue, Closed to Cars

On Sunday, Nov 8, Beekman Avenue closes to cars between Pocantico Street and Route 9, and 145+ vendors fill the roadway from 10 AM to 5 PM. Entry is free. Food trucks and village shops join the stalls, dogs come along, and the chamber bills the fair rain or shine, though two weather postponements already moved it this year, so confirm before you go. The Headless Horseman stands outside Ganso Ramen from 1 to 4 PM, Witches Along the Hudson play at 11:30 AM and 3 PM, and five billed sets run the BUMP stage until 5 PM.

🍂 Up Broadway to the Old Cemetery

The grounds open at 8:30 AM on weekends and shut at 4:30, and walking the 90 acres is free. Free legal-size maps wait in the literature box at the office, 540 North Broadway, a mile up from the fair. Washington Irving's grave is minutes from the south gate; Andrew Carnegie's tomb sits up the hill in the north sections, not beside him. No picnicking, no alcohol, no bicycles or scooters, and groups must have cemetery staff. On Nov 8 the Knickerbocker tour runs from the south gate, 430 North Broadway, at 11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM: an hour, 20 dollars, tickets bought ahead.

🚆 How One Sunday Fits Together

Sunday trains leave Grand Central about hourly in the morning and take 35 to 50 minutes, so check the day's timetable. Tarrytown is 16 minutes on foot from the fair, and the cemetery's south gate is five minutes away. Plan on the 5:16 from Philipse Manor, in at 6:19, which leaves room to wander after a 3 PM tour ends at 4; the 4:44 only works if nothing slips, and the station runs about hourly, so a miss costs an hour. Tarrytown has more trains, including a 5:04 express. Sunset is 4:43, and the last hour before the 4:30 gate has the best light. Philipsburg Manor, Lyndhurst and the Tarrytown Music Hall cut back hours after October, so check first.
