🌸 The uphill reward
A pair of stone gate pillars off West 214th Street marks the entrance, and the paved path climbs past low fieldstone walls into a stretch of Inwood most visitors overlook. Old lampposts line the route, and mature shade trees keep the slope cool through summer. In spring the terraced beds fill with cherry and magnolia blossoms, and the perennial garden runs through waves of color into fall. Benches sit along the ridge for a long pause above the neighborhood. Winter thins the crowd further, leaving snow-covered lawns and bare trees to the few regulars who make the climb.
