🎨 Four Shows Opening Nov 5
All four shows open Nov 5 and stay open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hard Art gathers more than 40 Black artists working in abstraction from 1969 to today. Masao Gozu: Windows and Bars is his first US museum show, built from decades of photographing tenement windows from Bay Ridge to Little Italy, then returning to the same blocks to record what changed. New York Fashion at PS1, 1980–1984 returns to the museum's own fashion program, when PS1 staged experimental installations with designers such as Willi Smith and Betsey Johnson. Modern Spotlight adds Fred Wilson's black-glass chandeliers.
🧘 Five Programs Need an RSVP
Five programs are free but need an advance RSVP on the event page; everything else is drop-in. The family workshop runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and ends with a flashlight walk through a street built from participants' window-objects. Joyflow starts at 10:15 a.m., and the flow plus sound bath at 11:15 a.m. is open to ages 10 and up. Two talks follow: Marco Pecorari on fashion exhibitions at 2 p.m., then Connie Butler with Howardena Pindell and James Little at 3:30 p.m.
🌇 A Half-Day Loop to the River
Take whichever morning session you reserved, then spend midday in the four shows and the 50th anniversary stoop sale, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., where every title is priced at 5, 10, or 15 dollars. The Fortune Society Makers Market runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sit in on the 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. talks, then walk to the East River at Gantry Plaza for the last light on the Manhattan skyline.
