A Free Chelsea Gallery with Bright Rooms and Rotating Shows

David Zwirner keeps a free, open Chelsea space at 533 W 19th St, lit for looking and open Tuesday to Saturday until 6 p.m.

Add it to a rainy Friday

🌧️ A dry hour on West 19th Street

The rooms are white, the light is even, and nothing in the door asks for a ticket. Zwirner runs a rotating lineup of contemporary names across a spare Chelsea floor, so what hangs this month will not hang next. Admission is free, and the gallery closes on Sunday and Monday, which makes a wet Friday afternoon the easy slot. Come for one room or all of them, then walk west to the High Line stairs or east toward the Flatiron for coffee. Allow forty minutes if you read the wall text.
