Chicago Riverfront Park with Pagoda Roofs and Skyline Views
Wander through a former railyard turned green space, with a playground and picnic space in Armour Square.
🏯 Pagodas Beside the River
Ping Tom Memorial Park puts Chinese pagoda architecture beside the Chicago River, with skyline views built into a stroll through Armour Square. A former railyard on the South Branch now holds Chinese landscape design, an athletic field and a playground. Make it the outdoor stretch after a meal at a neighborhood eatery. The park sits at 1700 South Wentworth Avenue, and boathouse restrooms are among its facilities.
The Leonard Louie Fieldhouse adds a zero depth entry indoor pool, a gymnasium and a green rooftop patio to the park. The lawn also hosts seasonal dance and music performances.
The park opens daily from 6 AM to 10 PM, while the fieldhouse opens Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 9 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with Sunday closed. A public dock serves Chinatown water taxis, kayak rentals are a summer offering, and picnic space leaves room to linger beside the river.
