A Calmer Brooklyn Shoreline Day Near Coney Island
Swim in gentler waves, then fire up a picnic grill by the sand before a game on the tennis courts.
🌊 Gentler Water, More Ways to Play
Manhattan Beach Park plays the relaxed Brooklyn alternative to Coney Island, with gentler waves, a boardwalk, and a concession stand along the sand. Getting there takes a short bus transfer from Brighton Beach, a small detour that keeps the shoreline feeling local.
Amenities start at the shoreline. Beach showers and free sunscreen are on hand, and lifeguards are on duty for swimmers. Past the sand, the park opens into playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, and a picnic area with grills by the beach, which turns a swim into a full afternoon.
The park is open daily from 6 AM to 9 PM, early enough for a morning walk on the boardwalk and late enough for an evening game on the courts. Pack food for the grills, arrive early for parking, and head to 760 Oriental Boulevard ready to stay a while. The streets around the park also offer views of local mansions on the walk in.
