Why ABC changes the whole conversation
ESPN and the ESPN app carry the bulk of the tournament, but the men's championship is on ABC — free-to-air. That distinction matters more than it sounds, because it means a venue does not need a cable sports package to show it. Zeitgeist at 199 Valencia Street is the outdoor option worth knowing: a large beer garden with long communal picnic tables, room for a group without a reservation, and in mid-September a strong chance of full sun. Check what is showing before you plan around it, but for a Saturday one o'clock final with a group who want to be outside, it is a very San Francisco answer.
The four-question phone call
Call rather than message. What time do you open on Saturday and on Sunday. Can you hold a table for our number at that time. Do you get ABC, and will the tennis be on a main screen with the sound up. Is there a minimum spend for a group booking at that hour. Get a name, arrive thirty minutes early, and have a second venue in mind, because the room that agreed on Wednesday can have a different manager and a different plan by Sunday morning.
Hosting it instead
For a mid-morning final, the honest best option in San Francisco is often somebody's flat.
