Run a coffee near me search inside Koreatown and two things go wrong at once. The results are dominated by the one shop that is already on every national list, and several of the rest are not in Koreatown. Bricks & Scones, which turns up constantly on Koreatown coffee round-ups, is at 403 North Larchmont Boulevard — Larchmont, a different neighbourhood and a real drive at the wrong hour. Yellow House Cafe, the Noranzip room on South Oxford Avenue that half the older guides still list, has closed. The One That Is Still Open at Midnight
About Time Cafe at 3287 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite B, is the outlier that makes the rest of the neighbourhood navigable: 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and until midnight on Sunday. It is two storeys with an outdoor patio and a fire heater, it is pet friendly, and it has its own free lot, which in this part of Wilshire is worth more than any menu item. One catch worth knowing before you plan an evening around it: the bagels stop at 2 p.m. The bacon, egg and cheese people come for is a morning proposition, even though the room is open for another eleven hours after that. Lattes run through Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Filipino flavour profiles rather than the usual syrup rack.
The Late Kitchen That Also Does Coffee
Café Mak at 612 Shatto Place is open 11 a.m. to midnight, seven days, which makes it the reliable afternoon-into-night option — and useless before eleven. It reads as a Korean comfort-food room that takes its drinks seriously: tea served in a French press, brick toast in garlic and honey versions, a leafy outdoor dining area off the side street, and wifi that actually holds. It sits within walking distance of two Metro lines at Wilshire/Vermont, which is the reason it works as an end-of-evening stop when you would rather not move a car.
Two Alchemists, Two Different Closing Times
Alchemist Coffee Project has been a fixture of Koreatown coffee since 2016 and runs two locations inside the neighbourhood, which is exactly where people get burned. The Vermont shop at 698 South Vermont Avenue, Suite 103, is open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at weekends. The Hobart shop at 687 South Hobart Boulevard, Unit C, keeps the same opening times but closes at 6 p.m. every day. That two-hour gap is not published anywhere the search results will show you, and it is the difference between a 7 p.m. table and a locked door. The New Orleans-style cold brew is the house order at both; the Vermont location has a valet lot and sits one block from the Wilshire/Vermont Metro station.
The Gallery Room That Is Not Really a Secret
Document Coffee Bar at 3850 Wilshire Boulevard belongs on this list mostly so you know its limitation. Sojung Kwon and Byoungok Koh opened it in 2014 in a space first conceived as a gallery and studio, and the white-walled room still reads that way — pour-over, maple cold brew, Korean tea and a menu more considered than the neighbourhood average. It made Eater LA's coffee guide in December 2025, so it is under nobody's radar at this point. It is also open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, full stop, which puts it firmly in the morning half of Koreatown and out of reach for anything resembling an evening.
When You Want Dessert Instead of Another Cup
Bumsan Organic Milk Bar at 534 South Western Avenue has been running since 2017 out of a bright pink stand, serving soft-serve made with South Korean organic milk in a rotating handful of flavours. Hours are noon to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday. It is not a coffee-run stop — it does not open until noon — but it is the most useful thing in the neighbourhood between a late dinner and going home, and it outlasts every specialty shop on this list except About Time.
Three Things That Quietly Break a K-Town Coffee Plan
First, the hours here are bimodal, not continuous: the serious 7 a.m. shops close at 6 or 8, and the rooms worth sitting in late do not unlock until 11 or noon. About Time is the only address that covers both ends of a day, which is why it is always busy. Second, parking dictates everything — About Time's free lot and Alchemist's valet on Vermont are the two easy answers, and metered street parking around Wilshire and Western is enforced later than visitors expect. Third, check the neighbourhood before you drive: a meaningful share of what search returns for Koreatown coffee sits in Larchmont, Mid-Wilshire or Historic Filipinotown, ten to fifteen minutes away in traffic that does not behave.
Practical notes
Build the day around the two closing times. Before 6 p.m., Document and the Hobart Alchemist are the calm rooms; between 6 and 8, Vermont's Alchemist is the only specialty counter still pouring; after 8, it is About Time or Café Mak, and after 10 it is About Time alone until 1 a.m. If you want a bagel, arrive before 2 p.m. — that is a hard cut-off, not a soft one. For laptop work, Café Mak and About Time both hold a connection and have outdoor seating that stays usable into the evening with the patio heater running. Bumsan is the closer, not the starter. And if a list sends you to Larchmont, that is a different trip, not a walk.
