Wynwood is where the bands are
Astra, at 2121 NW 2nd Avenue, is the neighborhood's big open-air Mediterranean rooftop, and it runs music nightly — a rotation of DJs and live bands rather than one-off bookings. The room is built like a Greek island courtyard dropped on top of Wynwood, all whitewash and greenery, and it works surprisingly well for both dinner and the later, louder hours. Happy hour runs 5 to 8 pm most nights, which lines up almost exactly with sunset for a good chunk of the year; dinner service stretches to 1 am on weeknights and 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays. If you want the band without the dinner bill, come for the happy-hour window and hold your table.
A few blocks over on NW 24th Street, No. 3 Social has the distinction of being Wynwood's first rooftop bar, and it has stayed true to the original premise: elevated street food, craft drinks, and a soundtrack that's genuinely programmed — DJs spinning, live bands on the calendar, and events built around the neighborhood rather than imported from South Beach. It's smaller and looser than Astra, which is exactly the appeal. This is the rooftop where you end up talking to strangers.
The Friday jazz set above Shiso
On & On is the rooftop patio above Shiso in Wynwood, and it's the most musically specific room on this list: a live-jazz series that reworks hip-hop classics — Friday nights, an intimate setting, refined cocktails, musicians close enough to watch. Local coverage from the Miami New Times and Local 10 has treated it as a real addition to the city's live-music map rather than a gimmick, and the format travels well: you get the familiarity of songs you know with the looseness of a jazz room. Note that this is deliberately not covered ground from Miami's basement jazz spots — this one happens under open sky.
Little Havana's only rooftop
Terras, on top of the Life House hotel just off Calle Ocho, is the only rooftop bar in Little Havana, which alone would earn it a slot here. But the music programming is the real story: the hotel runs curated resident-DJ nights Thursday through Saturday, with sets that lean Latin and stay conversational-volume early before building. The food skews Latin and Mediterranean street food, the skyline view runs east toward downtown, and the whole thing feels like a well-kept secret precisely because tourists on Calle Ocho rarely look up. Open Tuesday through Sunday; weekends are the music nights.
Brickell, forty floors up
Sugar, on the 40th floor of the EAST hotel at Brickell City Centre (788 Brickell Plaza), is the highest room on this list and the one with the most photographed view. It's a Bali-style garden in the sky — trees, lanterns, Asian-influenced food — open daily from noon to 1 am, with DJs shaping the room as the evening turns. Sunset here is genuinely dramatic: you're above almost everything, and the light comes off Biscayne Bay in a way that makes even jaded locals reach for their phones. Come at golden hour on a weekday if you want a seat at the rail.
Down the street and 18 floors lower, Rosa Sky sits on the 22nd floor of the AC/Element hotel at 115 SW 8th Street. It's rose-lit, tapas-driven, and built around sunset — DJs run Thursday through Saturday with a deep-house and Latin-electronic lean. It's the more accessible Brickell option: easier reservations than Sugar, a slightly younger crowd, and an open-air patio pointed straight at the skyline.
The South Beach late shift
Watr, on the roof of the 1 Hotel South Beach, is the ocean-view entry — a stylish deck where the DJ programming starts late, Thursday through Saturday from 11 pm onward. This is not a sunset room so much as an after-dinner one: sushi and cocktails early, then the tempo climbs. If your night is dinner on Collins Avenue followed by somewhere with music but without a nightclub line, this is the answer. Pair it with an early evening at one of the Brickell or Wynwood rooftops and you've built a whole night around three different soundtracks.

Hotel rooftops like Sugar and Watr can restrict entry to hotel guests during private events, and most of these rooms enforce some version of a dress code after dark.
