It's a smaller footprint than the old superstores, so treat it as your statement store, not your everything store.
The working rule locals use: Party City handles the pieces that need to be color-matched and coordinated — the balloon order in her exact shade, themed tableware, the number balloons — and the dollar store handles everything you need twelve of. When a hall seats a hundred and twenty people at fifteen tables, the difference between buying centerpiece vases at a party boutique and buying them at Dollar Tree is a car payment.
The Dollar Tree Base Layer
Dollar Tree runs dozens of stores across Miami-Dade — there's one on SW 8th Street near Little Havana, several through Kendall and Westchester, and more up the north side — so odds are you can hit two in one afternoon if the first one is picked over. The base layer you're building: glass cylinder vases and votive holders, tealights and taper candles, serving trays and cake stands for the dessert table, tablecloths and tulle, favor bags and ribbon, LED string lights for anything that needs a glow. Buy in bulk two days before the party, keep everything in water in the coolest room of the house, and put the cousins to work on arrangements the night before. Note the hours, though — weekdays they run morning to mid-afternoon, Saturdays only until early afternoon, closed Sundays — so this is a planned trip, not a day-of scramble.
Feeding a Hundred Cousins
You don't need a caterer; you need a deli counter with range. Hours, availability, and offerings all change; verify anything that would sink the party if it fell through.
