Pummarola in Midtown at 3328 North Miami Avenue runs 11am to midnight Monday to Thursday and Sunday, and 11am to 12:30am on Friday and Saturday. Neapolitan-style, a straightforward room, and a thirteen-hour trading day — which is what makes it the most flexible entry on this list. It is open for a late lunch, an early dinner and a late one.
Between them these two cover the entire evening. If the plan is dinner and the plan might slip, Pummarola absorbs the slippage better; if the plan is a specific pie in a specific room, Lucali is the destination.
Open Until Eleven: the Slice Shop With a Closed Day
Miami Slice at 1335 Northeast Miami Court runs 5pm to 11pm, Wednesday through Monday — which is to say it is closed on Tuesdays and it does not open at all before five in the afternoon. That is a narrow window and it catches people, because a slice shop is exactly the sort of place you expect to be able to walk into at lunchtime.
