Wynwood is one of Miami's densest nightlife districts and it does not contain a McDonald's. That combination catches people out reliably at around two in the morning, when the search returns results that are all further away than they look and the walk that seemed plausible turns out to be a drive.
Karpo can tell you what is still serving around Wynwood right now and whether driving south to an all-night counter is genuinely faster than walking two blocks.
The honest map
The all-night counters that serve this part of Miami are south and east of Wynwood rather than in it. The twenty-four hour location at 299 Southwest Eighth Street, where Brickell meets Calle Ocho, is the most reliable of them, and there are further options in the downtown core.
From Wynwood that is a genuine drive — not far in distance, but far enough that it is a car or a rideshare decision rather than a walk. Anyone who has tried to walk it at two in the morning across the rail corridor and the flyovers has learned that the map distance and the pedestrian distance are different numbers.
Why there is nothing in the district itself
Wynwood converted from light industry to galleries, bars and restaurants over about fifteen years, and the commercial stock reflects that history — warehouses and small lots rather than the drive-thru-friendly corner sites that a fast-food operator needs. The economics of the neighbourhood also work against it now that the rents have moved.

The nearest big-brand infrastructure sits on the arterial roads that bound the district instead, which is a pattern you see across a lot of converted industrial neighbourhoods. It means the walkable food inside Wynwood is almost entirely independent, which is a good thing until half past two.
What Wynwood does have late
Coyo Taco on Northwest Second Avenue runs until two in the morning Monday through Wednesday and three from Thursday to Sunday, which covers most of the gap on its own and is a considerably better meal than anything you would drive for. There is also a small back bar behind the taco counter if the night is not finished.
Beyond that, the district's smashburger counters run past midnight most nights, and the wider area has genuine twenty-four hour Cuban kitchens — the sort of place that will make you a pressed sandwich at any hour. Those are the answers a resident would give you, and they are better answers.
North on Biscayne, if you are driving anyway
If you have a car and you are prepared to drive, the Biscayne Boulevard corridor to the north-east opens up. Steve's Pizza up at 12101 Biscayne runs to two in the morning midweek and three at weekends, and the MiMo stretch has kitchens running to four on Friday and Saturday.
That is a ten to fifteen minute drive from Wynwood at that hour, when Biscayne is empty and fast. It is genuinely quicker than it sounds and it is a materially better outcome than a drive-thru, provided somebody in the group is fit to drive.
When the chain counter is still the right call
There are situations where it is. If you need something open at half past four rather than half past two, if you are with people who want something predictable, or if you are heading south toward Brickell or the causeway anyway, the twenty-four hour counter on Eighth Street is the sensible endpoint.
It is also the answer when nobody can agree. The failure mode of a large group at two in the morning is spending forty minutes not deciding, and a place that is definitely open and definitely fast is worth something against that. Just do not pretend it is nearby — plan the transport before you plan the order.
Getting out of Wynwood at that hour
Rideshare surge pricing around Wynwood at closing time is real and it peaks in the twenty minutes after the bars empty. Waiting fifteen minutes, or walking a few blocks east away from the main pickup zone, frequently costs less than ordering immediately from outside the busiest venue on Second Avenue.
If you are driving, the arterials clear quickly and the district's own streets are the slow part. Getting out to Biscayne or across to I-95 takes a few minutes and then everything is fast, which is why the ten-minute drives genuinely are ten minutes at that hour.
The practical hierarchy
In order: eat in Wynwood at a counter that is still open, because the food is better and you are already there. Failing that, drive north on Biscayne if somebody is fit to drive and you want something worth the trip. Failing that, take the all-night counter south toward Brickell and accept it for what it is.
What does not work is standing on Second Avenue searching for a chain that is not there. Knowing the geography in advance is the whole difference between a good end to a night and forty minutes of everyone looking at their phones on a pavement.
- There is no McDonald's inside Wynwood; the nearest all-night counter is at 299 SW 8th Street where Brickell meets Calle Ocho, and that is a drive rather than a walk
- Coyo Taco, 2300 NW 2nd Avenue: to 2:00 AM Monday-Wednesday and 3:00 AM Thursday-Sunday
- Steve's Pizza, 12101 Biscayne Boulevard: to 2:00 AM midweek and 3:00 AM Friday and Saturday, roughly a 10-15 minute drive
- The MiMo stretch on Biscayne has kitchens running to 4:00 AM on Friday and Saturday
- Twenty-four hour Cuban kitchens in the wider area will make a pressed sandwich at any hour
- Rideshare surge peaks in the twenty minutes after the Wynwood bars empty; walking a few blocks east lowers it
- Wynwood's converted warehouse stock is why there is no drive-thru infrastructure inside the district
- Decide the transport before the order; the map distance and the walking distance are different numbers
